A Day In The Life Of A Desperate Houswife Hahaha..

New achievement for this new year, yesterday I went to the clinic all by myself, of course the kids were with me, but..... hubby wasn't around for the first time!!!!! http://www.emocutez.com hehehehehehe....
I know I know, it's probably nothing to most of you, but here in Deutschland, and for a desperate Housewife like me, it is really something, heheh..
Well, you know why, language problem.. http://www.emocutez.com

I was always so afraid to converse in Deutsch, so afraid of any mistakes I might make, and so worried, what if I couldn't understand what they were saying...
But now, I have more confident, and also no longer afraid to make mistakes while talking in Deutsch and also used to 'muka tebal' when I didn't understand something ngeh ngeh..
So yesterday, at least, I made it through the receptionist fully in Deutsch, and tried full Deutsch with the Doctor too, but I had to surrender because......

She knows English, http://www.emocutez.com so why bother racking my brain right ??? Trying to find the right words and also straining my ears, trying to understand what the doctor was saying.
Ok, that was the first achievement, http://www.emocutez.com
Second achievement, again, in Deutsch class yesterday, I participated in discussion hehehe, no longer the quiet me.... ngeeeeeeeee http://www.emocutez.com

We were talking about our last Birthday's Celebration, and I know, I made lots of mistakes, but... so what ?? If I can speak fluently already, then why should I bother attending the class rite ???
Thank you Allah for this new confident in me.. may at least, I'll be as good in Deutsch as I am with English.. Amin... (walaupun English pun x bagus mana, ngeh ngeh )
And also, million thanx to friends and family who always give their words of encouragement, may Allah bless you guys.. :)

WhEn ThErE Is A WiLL, ThErE Is A Way... :)

It's been two months since I started to seriously learn Deutsch, no more hanya untuk 'Suka2 aje', and already I've made some significant improvement...

After reading two Novels from this series;

And learning Deutsch online too...
 And even though workbook has turned into this;

I refused to be derailed, I worked and worked and worked, and for the first time in this past two classes, I was no longer the quite me hehe..
I participated in conversation.... heheh (mode bangga)
Before this, I used to be soooo quiet and only speak whenever being asked (that's because I didn't know how to speak !! Or perhaps I was too scared of any mistakes I might make)
And to make things worst, most of my classmates can speak very2 well, you might as well wonder 'Why la they even bother to go to class when they can already speak so well !!'
Well, they needed the certificate for their job, coz they work here, in Deutschland.

So, the class is no longer bout listening to the teacher and doing exercises, it's more like a discussion on current issues apart from the lessons.
And most of the times, I would just keep quiet...
Except these past two classes...
And particularly yesterday's class...
They were talking bout Weihnachten (Christmas) celebration, and suddenly, I couldn't help but voiced out the kind of Festive celebration we have as a Muslim..
Even though my sentences were probably pathetic, at least I finally found the courage and confidence to speak in front of everyone.. Yeah !!

That's because, I know Deutsch better now because of my effort and thanx to Myriam my classmate, who gave me this words of encouragement;

"In class is the best place and time to make mistakes because the teacher is there to correct us.. so don't be afraid.. "

Oh so true, why la I've never thought of this before?

Nevertheless, I still can't forget the way those faces were staring at me with open mouth when I started to talk, and they're probably thinking;
"Hey, since when did she join the class ? "

DeUTsCH CLaSS AgAiN...

2nd week in 2nd module of Deutsch class, this time, different teacher, waaaayyy boring from the 1st one. I kinda miss Nino, my previous teacher, who's got a melodic voice and laughter also a great way of delivering a lecture. However, the class is quite lively for the great people in it, including me hehehehe..

hehe.. ambik2 gambar ni cam x fokus je ek?

That's Nadia, we were in the same class before, Nadia speaks neither English nor Deutsch... so just imagine how struggle I was to speak to her in Deutsch.. ngeh ngeh

That's Alan and his wife Cynthia. Alan used to live in Malaysia for 4 years hahaha!! I dun know why I always meet someone who's somehow related to Malaysia. I mean, here in Deutschland alone, I've so far met 3 people who had once lived in M'sia! I wrote about this before;

I was in a hurry and couldn't dig up more stories bout them, maybe next time I'll learn more bout them. Maybe more surprises for me!! He mentioned something bout working with Malaysian Airlines, maybe he knows my brother who used to work with MAS also.

That guy with the red striped shirt, he's the Plastic Surgeon. mmm.. The rest were mostly teachers. This time around, the class consists of mostly American. At one time, I felt like as if I was in America hehe..

Deutsch, deutsch, deutsch... sigh..

Ok, now that i've been learning Deutsch for 2 months, I finally have the confidence to go anywhere, any shops alone except clinic. i still need my hubby for this, coz he speaks much better and understands better. Buying stuffs need not communication and conversation. Nevertheless, i did apply a few things that i've learnt! a few times when the DHL guy or woman came over to deliver stuffs, and some of them were just super nice trying to create a conversation, and I would ask,
"Sprichst du English?" (that means do u speak english?)
and then the usual answer would be
"Nein, nicht English" (no English).. and then the usual attitude of the German people, they would carry on talking in Deutsch even though it was pretty obvious that i did not understand what they were saying haha! so what i did most of the times, i would say,
"Tut mir leid, ich spreche ein bisschen Deutsch" (i'm sorry, i speak very little Deutsch)..
There was once, when i was in the supermarket, only me, fatini and aleena, at that time I had only learnt numbers in Deutcsh up to 20. One old woman came to me with something in her hand, and she started talking in Deutsch and pointing at the price , i couldn't quite comprehend at first wat she's trying to say, but then i culd just simply predicted wat it was bout: she forgot her glasses and she couldn't see the price written there clearly, and she's old, and obviously her sight was not good, so she needed me to tell her the price! so I asked her,
"das preis...??" she nodded, and I saw it's written "80cent" but oh me gosh! how do i say it in Deutsch!!?? damn it!
But thank goodness i've learnt some basics, so i said to her,
"Einen moment bitte.." (a moment please..) and i called my hubby hahahaha!!! just to ask him how do i say 80cent in Deutsch! Then I told her proudly hehehe
"achtzig cent".. she thanked me, perhaps not only for the favor but also for the effort and she was so sweet, she could just asked other Deutsche around instead of wasting her time waiting for me.. hehehe
Meanwhile, at home everyone is speaking Deutsch.. Afeef speaks the most... Fatini speaks only few.. the other day, I asked her
"Was macht du Fatini?" (what are u doing fatini)
she replied " Ich bin Fatini.." (I am Fatini) hehe
I asked again, "Mochtest du eine banane?" (do want a banana?)
she replied "Ich bin Fatini.." (I am Fatini) hehe
I asked "was hast du gesagt Fatini?" (what did u say?)
A moment of silence... "Ich habe keine ahnung..." (that means, I have no idea) hahahaha!
ok, that's the only two sentences she knew other than "tut mir leid (i'm sorry) and Entschuldigung (excuse me).. which she learnt from cartoon.. hehehe. she even made her own song, check this out..

What a bummer!

Ever since we arrived here in Germany, i rarely encounter anyone who speaks english even though theres an American army base here in Kaiserslautern. with renewed determination to learn Deutsch since i reached here last June, my hubby registered me for a twice a week Deutsch class. oh, million thanx to him! So i've learnt the basic such as 'what is your name', 'where are u from', 'excuse me', and etc etc..
so, waiting for an opportunity to apply what i've learnt, i went to a nearby shop last saturday to buy a new pen.. while i was hunching over to study a selection of pens in a narrow space, so totally engrossed by it, i became unaware of a presence of a young woman standing behind me trying to squeeze through. surprised, i got up quickly, and momentarily i tried to think of a right word to say to her in Deutsch of course, oh this is my chance! either "Entschuldigung" it means ( excuse me) or "Tut mir leid" that means (i'm sorry). Quickly i settled for "Tut mir leid".. hehe
she smiled and said "oh it's ok, i can squeeze through if i wanted too!".. and then she was gone, i stood there like an idiot haha.. what a pathetic attempt! All these while, i've kept on bumping into a Deutscher who don't speak english at all, and now when i finally had the chance to practice what i've learnt, i bumped into an American. What the heck!

Deutsch class!

Have had 4 Deutsch classes so far, and lots of homework.. i dun know it's either learning language is fun or the class itself... i have so much fun and enjoy the class so much that for the 1st time in my life i wish i dun have to miss this class though i know there will be days when i have to skip it since it might coincides with my hubby's group meeting. mingling with this youngsters make me feel young again :) most importantly, i have the chance to practice and improve my english particularly in conversing. so i have one friend from America and one from Mexico which obviously they speak fluent english. and the rest are from variety of countries and they don't speak fluent english and some of them don't even speak english.. but still they are very nice and friendly which enable me to learn some of their languages so we can communicate.. i really hope i can master Deutsch during this 4 years stay in Germany.. wow.. things just get better and better... alhamdulillah...
